DescriptionTitle: The Princess of Weaving VII Year Completed: 2020 Size: H54.5” × W67” / H137 cm × W168.5 cm Material: Antique cotton (aizome), cotton satin (including hand-dyed), new cotton Techniques: Machine piecing, hand applique, hand quilting (sashiko thread) Statement: The idea came from free-hand weaving. I used cotton satin from the same artist which I had used for Princess of Weaving V and VI. I used pink extensively, something very unusual for me, but had no difficulty using it with an aizome background. I added white strips to simulate shapes of falling drops of water. They make a big difference. |
