DescriptionTitle: Spring Snow Year Completed: 1985 Size: H87.5” × W64” / H222 cm × W162 cm Material: new cotton (America, Japan) cotton embroidery threads Statement: This was the first quilt which I began, but five others which I started afterwards were finished sooner. In the manner of a Hawaiian quilt, each "snowflak" is based on a cut-paper pattern (folded three times, then cut and finally unfolded to give an eight-fold symmetry). Each of these patterns has embroidered edges. The first few took me about ten hours each, later I could do them faster. |
