DescriptionTitle: My Hometown Year Completed: 1994 Size: H76.5” × W59” / H194 cm × W150.5 cm Material: old cotton (aizome), new cotton (Japan, America, France), corduroy, silk (necktie) Statement: Although I live in New York, I always return to Japan for the summer, arriving in June, just in time for the gloomy rainy season. Yet I am always refreshed by seeing bright hydrangeas blooming everywhere. From distance we see only pink or blue, but approaching closely reveals a beautiful variety of shades. I realized we also see this in fireworks or in chandeliers, even in light passing through frosted glass. If you look closely at the lower right, you can see a bit of fireworks. |
