DescriptionTitle: My Arabic World Year Completed: 2015 Size: H82.5” × W62” / H210 cm × W158 cm Material: Thai silk, Southeast Asia silk scarves, new cotton (including hand-dyed) Statement: The idea came from beautiful Near Eastern carpets, which have very complicated patterns, which I had to simplify to make a design which would be possible for a quilt. I decided to use seven patterns. Each one begins from its upper right corner and extends to the left and downwards to the edges of the quilts, creating an impression of overlapping. Some of the scarves were very fragile, which made them very difficult to work with. |
