DescriptionTitle: Ai = Heavenly Will Year Completed: 2016 Size: H48.5” × W48” / H146 cm × W145 cm Material: Cotton satin, hand-dyed cotton, commercial cotton, blend Statement: For the first time in some years I used a lot of applique, perhaps more than ever before. Until about ten years before I had not been fond of applique, smaller quilts, nor square quilts. Having come to terms with all of these, I was able to enjoy making this quilt. The title "Ai" means that Heaven has given us trees as a gift, with warmth from light streaming through in Winter, beautiful blossoms in Spring, a cooling lush canopy of leaves in Summer, and beautiful colors in Autumn. This quilt gives thanks for the gift of trees. |
