Statement: This ("Heavenly") series gave me an opportunity to strengthen three of my weaknesses: squares, small sizes, applique. I hoped to become more proficient and natural in the use of these. Squares were the theme for this quilt. The Shokintei (Pine-Koto Pavilion) of the Katsura Imperial Villa provided inspiration, along with the stepping stones seen throughout the villa.
